  Ann Arbor Rainbow Book Club   The Rainbow Book Club is a book club dedicated to reading and discussing classic and contemporary lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer literature.   DAWN   Detroit Area Womyn's Network is a social group for professional women 30 years of age and older. We have a gathering the second Thursday of each month where we get together to dine and socialize. In addition to our gatherings we host 1-2 other events each month.   Get Out   Lesbian hiking, biking and activity group. Fairly informal group. Activities are generally fitness related and occur every couple of weeks. Bike rides average 20 miles with lunch stops and hikes are typically 5 miles and hilly. We're also planning on snow shoeing and cross country skiing for the winter.   Gilda's Club Metro Detroit (for anyone touched by cancer)  

*LGBT support group meets monthly on the 3rd Wednesday, 6 PM. This group provides social and emotional support for LGBT persons with cancer and/or their partners, LGBT family members/friends.

*LGBT bereavement group for any LGBT person that has lost a loved one to cancer meets twice monthly on the 2nd Monday at 1 PM and the 4th Wednesday at 6 PM. Bereavement groups are co-sponsored by the HOPE Fund of the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan.

  Girls Night Out (bowling league)   Bowls at Colonial Lanes, 1950 S. Industrial, Ann Arbor 48103. Phone 734-665-4474. Every other Sunday starting September 8, practice is at 6:30, league play is at 6:40. 4 women to a team, $10.00 per week per person. The first half will run September 8 through December 15, (the 15th will be a fun night, awards and a pizza party). The second half will start January 12 and run through April 6 (which will be our fun night awards and pizza party). NO experience needed just a FUN league.   Iron Maidens Golf League   The Iron Maidens Golf League meets Tuesday nights from April 27-Sept 7. Tee times start at 6pm, perfect for the working woman. We play at Dearborn Hills (Mich Ave & Telegraph), a beautiful executive Par 30 course. The course plays tough with water on many holes.   Karibu House   Karibu House is a proposed multi-service community center that will provide services and activities to increase public awareness and understanding of the experiences of lesbians, gay men, bi-attractional and transgender (lgbt) persons of color. The term "persons of color" used here refers to African-Americans, Pacific Islanders, Latinos and Native Americans. Karibu House will exist to promote the positive mental, physical, spiritual, emotional well-being and identities of all people. Karibu House, Inc, nor the community center, will discriminate against anyone because of age, attractional orientation, economic status, ethnic/cultural background, gender, religion or physical disability. "Karibu" (pron. ke-REE-boo) is a Swahili word, which means, "Welcome home."   Outskirts   An Affirmations-sponsored project, we know firsthand that there are many women 50 years and up who are unaware of our wonderful community. The OUTSKIRTS project is eagerly attempting to reach out to these women, offering support and camaraderie. Statistically we all know the 10% rule, making it reasonable to think that you may know other females who have struggled for years with the issue of sexual orientation. OUTSKIRTS has a lot to offer these women and vice versa. Help reach out to this population.   Women Build!   Women Build! is a House Sponsor for the Huron Valley affiliate of Habitat for Humanity.   Yak Womyn   Yak Womyn is a paddle group - kayaks, canoes or whatever floats - for women in the Greater Ann Arbor area and beyond. The intent is to paddle mainly the watersheds known as Waterloo and Pickney Recreation Areas which is conveniently located between Ann Arbor and Jackson off of I-94 and includes Cedar Lake, Pickerel Lake, Blind Lake, Highland Lake, Crooked Lake and Silver Lake besides Gallup Park and other area rivers and lakes this paddle season 2007.
